I do not pretend to know everything about the topics I bring up here. Yet, I believe that each of my pieces contains something worthwhile and this is why I’ve allowed them to see the light of day in this nook of the internet.

These days, I never enjoy the luxury of actual (lazy) leisure; my family life and my job absorb me almost entirely. I have very few minutes in a day to myself. Regardless of these limitations, various things cross my mind as I am busy doing something else and they beg me to engage with them. Eventually, I write some of them down. You will find many short reflection pieces and a few poems. You will read about people, studies, parenting, spirituality, literature and life.

Let’s get started!

A few words

ABOUT ME

My name is Magdalena Panz-Sochacka. I have been happily married to a wonderful man for eight years. We have been blessed with three children (the eldest  5.5, the youngest 1.5 years old). I work part-time as a translator and lecturer at a higher education institution in Krakow. I’m a homemaker most of my week. The home that I make 🙂  is located in a small town just outside of Krakow, Poland.

A part of my biography is a bit unusual. I earned my B.A. and M.A. degrees in North America (Dartmouth College, USA and University of Montreal, Canada, respectively) thanks to a bunch of generous academic scholarships. All in all, I spent a total of seven years in North America, all alone. It was a valuable life lesson. I studied hard, learnt English and French by total immersion, worked different jobs (babysitter, librarian, communications coordinator….) and made friends with people of very diverse backgrounds. I had to face quite a few challenges throughout my time there; it wasn’t all smooth sailing. I still draw on my American and Canadian experience on a daily basis.

I like simplicity and authenticity. I love children, books and music and moderate entertaining, I don’t like movies in general, with some exceptions.:) I am an optimist. I do not like it when people complain or scoff at something or someone. I believe in the good and the beautiful. I am convinced that beauty can draw one towards things true and good. I like thinking and analyzing things. I enjoy changing the scenery around me: moving furniture around, improving and simplifying things etc. I like traveling and returning home. Deep within, I always cherish stability and peace. I believe in God and His Plan.
